PotatoEurope 2010

Top-level meeting of European potato experts at Bockerode Estate near Hanover on 8/9 September 2010

The next top-level meeting of European potato experts, the PotatoEurope exhibition, will be held at the Bockerode Estate in Springe-Mittelrode near Hanover on 8 and 9 September 2010. The entire potato world will be presenting a complete range of information covering all aspects of the potato. This will provide international potato experts with a unique platform for acquiring the latest knowledge about all issues surrounding modern potato production and processing. The spotlight will be on the areas of breeding, fertilising, plant protection, machinery and equipment for production and processing, as well as trade. The technical offerings will be rounded off by trial plots, demonstrations of machinery and information events. PotatoEurope 2010 is being organised by DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – German Agricultural Society) together with the potato industry association (Union der Deutschen Kartoffelwirtschaft - UNIKA) and K+S KALI GmbH. The organisers expect some 200 exhibitors and around 10,000 expert visitors. The closing date for applications from exhibitors presenting trial plots and demonstration machinery and equipment is 29 January 2010. Campus stands – on grass or in the tent halls – can be booked up to 14 May 2010.

Current varieties and various kinds of fertilising and plant protection strategies will be shown on a trial field. This gives farmers key recommendations for future potato cropping. The programme offered is rounded off by campus stands on grass and in a tent hall. Here the exhibitors will be presenting the entire spectrum of the exhibition programme – from breeding right through to processing. The potato industry, as well as scientific and industrial research institutions, agricultural organisations and federations will be communicating their information on varieties, cultivation methods complete with advisory services, as well as questions of management, marketing and services.

A further attraction at PotatoEurope will be the demonstrations of machinery for planting, lifting and loading. Some demonstrations will be accompanied by a commentary from an impartial expert. Furthermore, to a limited extent manufacturers will have the opportunity to explain their machines to visitors themselves during demonstrations. Potato machinery and equipment will also be on show on the campus.
