Organised by ARVALIS - Institut du végétal with the support of the whole sector, PotatoEurope will take place on the 12 and 13 September 2012 in Villers-Saint-Christophe (100 km north of Paris). The main attractions of this event will be the dynamic demonstrations of equipments, the trade village, the 200 exhibitors and the technical workshops on potato production.
Since its creation, the reputation of the event has been based on the dynamic demonstrations of potato harvesters and grading lines. In 2012, the French version of the event will repeat its initiative of offering an introduction to packing with dynamic demonstrations of optical sorting, in parallel with planting demonstrations on the field. The trade village is also an original attraction which is a big hit with the visitors. For the next edition 4 technical areas will be included. Each will present agricultural and technological advances: varietal and genetic innovations, management of water and fertilisation, crop protection, storage and buildings management. On an area of 40 hectares, numerous experts associated with over 200 exhibitors will share their experiences and results with the visitors.
The 2008 edition was visited by 10,000 farmers and technicians, including 3,500 foreign visitors from 40 different countries. This gives a good illustration of how mature this event is, with visitors sure of having the opportunity to meet the major players in European potato agricultural machinery, supplies and commerce. The 6th French edition of the event, labelised PotatoEurope since 2008, will benefit from the increased synergy resulting from the initiative by Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands to take it in turns to organise an annual international event dedicated to the potato on the field.
The www.potatoeurope.com website has just opened. The site will evolve as the event is prepared: technical presentations schedules, videos, description of exhibitors and dynamic demonstrations, as well as all the practical information (registration, access map, catering etc.).
PotatoEurope is the labelised name for the international potato field events between 4 partner countries which coordinate their organisation: 2012 France, 2013 Netherlands, 2014 Germany, 2015 Belgium
